US News:
The White House has pushed back against the House Oversight Committee's subpoenas directed at Hunter Biden his uncle James Biden, and other Biden family members.
In a recent statement, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, "This is an investigation that has been going on for a year now and has turned up zero evidence of wrongdoing by the president, because there is none. But, Republicans continue to double down on a baseless, baseless smear campaign against the president and his family instead of being focused on the American people's needs, what they're asking for, what is it that they truly want us to focus on — they continue to double down on this."
Congressman Jamie Raskin, who sits on the committee, called the subpoenas "further proof that this sham impeachment inquiry is driven only be the demands of Donald Trump."
Another view:
The House Oversight Committee statement said they "identified two checks labeled as 'loan repayments' from James and Sara Biden to Joe Biden that were funded by laundered China money and domestic influence peddling schemes." They also claim that the Biden family took in "24 million from foreign nationals," including individuals from China, Russia, and Ukraine.
Chairman James Comer said the subpoenas were warranted, adding, "The House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family's influence-peddling schemes. Now, the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence. Unlike the many lies President Biden told the American people about his family's business schemes, bank records don't lie. These records reveal how the Bidens sold Joe Biden around to the world to benefit the Biden family, including Joe Biden himself, to the detriment of U.S. interests."
Those subpoenaed include Hunter Biden, James Biden, Sara Biden, and Hallie Biden.
