Stop saying, “cops are only human” as you dishonor them and give them a pass on not having a standard of the highest excellence possible.
Expect, demand and support your police to be above human, to be superior in their knowledge of the law, their delivery of tactics and their interactions with the public so that should they fall, the height will be so slight and not cascading down to a level where having to say “cops are only human” is an excuse and an avoidance of the their best selves who are called to do what the rest of us can’t.
Police Officers must strive for the highest of standards possible in all that they do; and from that will be righteous action and public support, where we shield them as our own when the human side of them does come out and finds community among us.
