Friday’s commute along parts of Highway 2 was a bit slow in Hall County, as a train has derailed near Cairo, Nebraska.
According to Hall County Emergency Manager John Rosenlund, 57 coal cars derailed and coal spilled everywhere. BNSF is on the site cleaning up the train, which does not pose a hazard to the public. The train is currently blocking all crossings from High Street (Highway 11) to 110th Road.
People were urged to stay away from the area as crews work to replace the cars and get the train back on track.
