Bill Maher and the Left constantly call Social Security an 'entitlement' and a Socialist program - That assertion is simply NOT TRUE! I paid roughly 6.5% of my gross earnings for almost 50 years into the Government's forced retirement savings program, also known as Social Security. But wait, I'm not the only one that paid into MY Social Security account. My employers ALSO paid another 6.5% of my wages and earnings into Social Security. A total of 13%. That's (again ball-parking) 1/7 of all of my gross earnings over 50 years. What happened to that money AND the compounded interest that the government makes using MY money?? When the Government graciously allow me to use MY MONEY at retirement in the form of Social Security payments, they dare call it an entitlement???

Then we get into the taxpayer money that is 'abandoned' in Social Security accounts if the person dies before collecting a dime. There are some mechanisms that will use those funds - surviving spouse (the spouse gets to draw the larger of the two retirements, and the lesser one is 'abandoned' to the Government.) Minor children will also get a small payment until they turn 18. My single-mother younger sister died at age 56, her children having already reached age 18. Who gets her Social Security? The Government! What a great Ponzi scheme the Government is running!!!
